Kakali Bandyopadhyay is a popular Bengali novelist and short story writer. He was born in West Bengal (India) on 24 February, 1948. He completed his M.A (Hons) in Bengali from Gauhati University and his Ph.D from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. He has published more than seventy novels and short stories. Some of his famous works include: The Journey of Kunal (1989), The Shattered World (1994), The Stranger (2005) and The Light and the Dark (2008)
